Vehicle Overview

2017 New Age Caravans GECKO GP11S.

This 2017 New Age Gecko GP11S is a compact pop-top caravan designed to make touring more comfortable without the bulk of a larger van. Its Australian-built presentation, practical layout and easy-towing design give it broad appeal for travellers who want a manageable setup with the convenience of genuine onboard facilities.

The pop-top format is central to the Gecko’s appeal. It keeps the caravan compact while travelling and opens up the interior once parked, providing useful headroom and a brighter, more open living environment. The layout is particularly well considered for a caravan of this size, combining everyday practicality with amenities that make longer stays more self-sufficient.

A major strength is the separate shower and bathroom. This private ensuite brings an appreciable level of independence to the travelling experience, reducing reliance on shared campground facilities and adding convenience during extended trips or stays away from established caravan parks. The interior also includes a kitchen with generous bench space and storage, supported by a new microwave oven for straightforward meal preparation.

Relaxation is catered for with a new television, while air conditioning and multiple Sirocco fans help manage comfort in warmer conditions. The fans are also suited to low-power airflow when travelling without mains electricity. A rooftop solar system further supports off-grid use, allowing the caravan’s electrical needs to be managed with greater flexibility when camping away from powered sites.

Outdoor living is another well-developed aspect of this Gecko. Two roll-out awnings, each supplied with a floor, create flexible sheltered areas on either side of the caravan. Privacy screens add versatility to those spaces, helping define an outdoor living area for shade, shelter or additional privacy depending on the campsite and conditions.

Positioning the caravan is made easier by the inclusion of parking crawlers, a useful feature when manoeuvring into a tight driveway, campsite or storage area. Together with the compact pop-top body, this gives the Gecko a practical balance between touring comfort and ease of handling.
