The 2026 KTM 450 SX-F is a purpose-built off-road motorcycle with the compact, focused character expected of a modern motocross machine. Its 449 cc single-cylinder engine uses electronic fuel injection, liquid cooling and a SOHC four-valve layout, combining a straightforward mechanical specification with the precise control offered by Keihin EMS management. An electric starter adds convenience when restarting between laps or riding sessions.

Power is delivered through a five-speed manual transmission and a wet multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics. The left-foot gear lever and claw-shift transmission are configured for committed off-road use, while the #520 chain drive provides a familiar and serviceable connection to the rear wheel. Traction control is listed as standard, although this motorcycle is not learner approved and is not registered for road use.

The chassis is built around a 25CrMo4 chrome-molybdenum steel central-tube frame with an aluminium-reinforced polyamide sub-frame. This construction is paired with WP XACT suspension at both ends: a split-system AER upside-down fork with hydraulic damping at the front and a linkage-mounted WP XACT monoshock at the rear. With 310 mm of front travel and 300 mm at the rear, the suspension specification is designed to provide substantial wheel movement over uneven terrain and jumps.

Braking hardware consists of hydraulic Brembo systems with a 260 mm single wave disc at the front and a 220 mm single petal disc at the rear. ABS and linked braking are not available, reflecting the bike's dedicated off-road role. Black-coated Excel rims with laced spokes and CNC-machined hubs are fitted with Dunlop GEOMAX MX34 tyres in 80/100-21 front and 110/90-19 rear sizes.

At 102.6 kg dry, with 343 mm of ground clearance and a 958 mm seat height, the 450 SX-F has a specification centred on clearance and control across demanding terrain. The KTM Orange and Black finish gives the motorcycle its distinctive appearance, while the single-rider layout keeps its purpose clear: this is a specialised competition-oriented off-road bike rather than a general-purpose road motorcycle.
