Vehicle Overview
2026 OMODA JAECOO J8 SHS Summit.
The 2026 Jaecoo J8 SHS Summit is a large, seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV presented here as a near-new demonstration vehicle with just 11km displayed. Its combination of three-row practicality, all-wheel-drive traction and a plug-in hybrid powertrain gives it a broad range of everyday uses, from carrying passengers to handling longer journeys with the flexibility of petrol-electric propulsion.
At the heart of the J8 is a 1.5-litre PHEV system paired with an automatic transmission. The published combined fuel-consumption figure is 1 L/100km, although real-world results will depend on battery charging, trip length, traffic and driving conditions. The plug-in hybrid layout is designed to provide an electric component for suitable journeys while retaining the convenience of a petrol engine for extended travel. A 70-litre fuel tank also supports longer-distance touring between refuelling stops.
The Summit grade is specified with 4X4 On Demand drive, providing a useful measure of additional traction when road surfaces or conditions become less predictable. The vehicle has a listed torque output of 215 Nm and a braked towing capacity of 1,600kg. Its 4,820mm length and 1,930mm width create the substantial footprint expected of a three-row SUV, while the seven-seat cabin gives it the capacity to accommodate larger groups.
Inside, Black Trim upholstery, electric front seats and heated first- and second-row seats focus on day-to-day comfort. The driver's seat includes memory and massage functions, while dual-zone climate control, rear air conditioning and a pollen filter help maintain a comfortable cabin environment for occupants across all three rows. A powered tailgate and keyless proximity entry add practical convenience when loading passengers or luggage.
The cabin's technology suite includes a full digital instrument display, colour multifunction control screen, head-up display, Bluetooth connectivity and a 12-speaker stereo. A glass roof with a powered blind adds light to the interior, while configurable ambient lighting and USB connectivity support longer trips. Twenty-inch alloy wheels provide the exterior with a substantial stance, complemented by LED headlamps and daytime running lamps.
Driver assistance equipment is extensive. The specification lists forward and rearward collision warnings, forward collision mitigation, pedestrian avoidance with braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, active lane-keeping assistance and distance-control cruise control. Front, rear and side cameras work with front and rear parking sensors, while electronic stability control, hill-hold assistance, regenerative braking and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes contribute to the vehicle's active safety package.
