Vehicle Overview

2007 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Camper.

This 2007 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been converted into a compact campervan designed around practical touring and comfortable two-person travel. Its long-wheelbase-style van platform provides a useful foundation for an interior that combines sleeping, cooking, washing and storage facilities, while the automatic diesel drivetrain and 160,322 kilometres give it the straightforward mechanical layout associated with a traditional touring van.

The living area is arranged to support extended stays away from conventional accommodation. A double foam mattress creates the main sleeping space, complemented by linen sheer curtains, roll-down blinds and three-layer wall and ceiling insulation. Sound deadening has also been applied to the walls, floor and ceiling. Storage is distributed throughout the conversion, with overhead shelving, four overhead cupboards, bulkhead storage, miscellaneous drawers, a shoe compartment and under-bed storage described as a dedicated shed.

Food preparation is handled by a well-equipped kitchen module. It includes a Dometic CFX3 75-litre dual-zone fridge/freezer, a Westinghouse single induction cooktop, a spacious sink with dish rack, a pull-out pantry and multiple kitchen drawers and cupboards. A pull-out dining table adds flexibility, while the ceramic-tile splashback and solid birch plywood benchtop provide durable, functional working surfaces. Waste and recycling bins are integrated into the cabinetry to keep the compact interior organised.

The electrical system is intended to support both self-contained travel and powered campsites. Two 200-watt solar panels charge an Enerdrive 200Ah lithium battery, with a 2,000-watt inverter, 40-amp AC-to-DC charger and 40-amp DC-to-DC charger forming the core of the system. An Enerdrive ePRO battery monitor provides oversight of the battery setup. There are four 240-volt power points, fast-charging USB and USB-C outlets, a 15-amp mains connection, a heavy-duty 20-metre power lead and a 10-amp-to-15-amp adapter.

Water and ventilation equipment add useful independence. The conversion includes an 80-litre freshwater tank, a 50-litre grey-water tank with level gauge, mains water connection, grey-water and freshwater hoses, a Maxxair fan vent and an outdoor shower. A portable toilet, Campus gas hot-water unit and custom indoor bathtub or washtub broaden the range of conditions in which the van can be used.

Outside, the equipment list includes a Fiamma F45s awning, rooftop deck, telescopic ladder, roof tie-down mounts, umbrella mount, spare-tyre mount and external surfboard rack. A Dometic pop-out window, foldable side-step and external gas storage box add practical detail to the exterior arrangement. Interior lighting is provided by natural-white and dimmable warm-white LED fittings, while a custom centre console offers additional storage and cup holders. A dash camera is also fitted.
