GR17.6

SUV Caravans GR17.6 Grand Retreat.

The GR17.6 is an 18-foot touring caravan designed around the practical needs of extended travel, combining a manageable footprint with the comfort and independence usually associated with larger layouts. Its walk-around queen island bed provides easier access on both sides, while the cafe-style or L-shaped seating area creates a flexible space for meals, conversation and downtime.

One of the strongest aspects of the layout is its dual-kitchen arrangement. Inside, the kitchenette brings together an induction cooktop, microwave, rangehood, sink and 157-litre upright refrigerator/freezer, giving occupants a conventional cooking space when weather or convenience dictates. Outside, the swing-around kitchen adds a four-burner gas stove, windguard, pantry drawers and a fridge drawer beneath the rollout awning, making outdoor meal preparation a natural part of the campsite routine.

The full ensuite is another significant advantage for touring. Separate shower and toilet cubicles provide greater privacy and usability, while the wall-mounted washing machine and ensuite storage help support longer stays away from conventional facilities. Hot and cold water is supplied to the sinks and shower, with a mains connection and external shower port adding flexibility around camp.

Power and storage provision is substantial for a caravan of this size. The specification includes roof-mounted solar panels, lithium battery capacity, a Renogy inverter and charging equipment, together with USB and USB-C points, 12V and 240V outlets, internal storage and an external generator slide. A roof-mounted air conditioner, electric rollout awning, internal fans, privacy windows and fly screens contribute to everyday comfort.

Underneath, the caravan uses a galvanised chassis and suspension arms, recovery suspension with twin shocks and heavy-duty springs, electric brakes and all-terrain tyres. Its listed dimensions are 7000mm long, 2250mm wide and 3020mm high, with an ATM of 3000kg, tare of 2520kg and stated carrying capacity of 480kg. The 2/3-berth configuration and balanced combination of indoor facilities, outdoor cooking and off-grid electrical equipment give the GR17.6 a versatile touring layout without the bulk of a significantly larger caravan.
