Vehicle Overview

This 2016 Hyundai Tucson Active X is a practical mid-size wagon with the everyday versatility expected of a family-oriented SUV. Its five-door layout, five-seat cabin and split-folding second row make it well suited to carrying passengers during the week while retaining useful flexibility for larger loads.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a six-speed sports automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. That familiar combination is designed around straightforward urban and suburban use, with automatic operation keeping the driving experience uncomplicated in traffic and on longer journeys.

The Active X specification brings a useful balance of comfort and technology. Partial leather seating, a leather steering wheel and leather gear knob add a more considered feel to the cabin, while the electrically adjustable driver's lumbar support helps improve seating comfort. Automatic headlights, heated folding door mirrors and dual illuminated vanity mirrors are convenient touches for regular driving.

Connectivity is well covered for its age, with Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary audio inputs, iPod compatibility and Apple CarPlay integration. The colour multifunction display and multifunction steering wheel help keep commonly used information and controls accessible without taking attention away from the road. Cruise control further supports relaxed highway travel.

Practicality is a particular strength. Roof rails provide extra carrying options, while the cargo cover, cargo net, tie-down hooks and storage compartments help keep items organised in the rear. A full-size alloy spare wheel is also included. The cabin offers bottle holders, cup holders and centre armrests in both rows, adding everyday convenience for occupants.

Safety and driver assistance equipment includes a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, electronic stability and traction control, hill holder, ABS, brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution. Front, side and curtain airbags, an alarm, remote central locking and an engine immobiliser add further reassurance.
