2024 JAC T9 Haven 4X4 Dual Range

The 2024 JAC T9 Haven is a dual-cab ute designed to combine everyday usability with genuine four-wheel-drive capability. Finished in Salt Bush, it presents a distinctive alternative in the utility segment while retaining the practical format expected of a vehicle built for work, recreation and longer-distance travel.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder CTI turbocharged diesel engine producing 120 kW and 410 Nm. That torque is available from 1,500 to 2,500 rpm, giving the T9 a useful low- and mid-range character for carrying equipment, managing inclines and making progress over loose or uneven surfaces. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, providing a straightforward driving experience in traffic and on open roads.

The part-time 4WD system is supported by dual-range gearing, hill-start hold control, hill descent control and selectable Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow driving modes. An electronic rear differential lock adds further traction assistance when conditions become more demanding. With 210 mm of ground clearance, a full-size steel spare wheel and off-road iron side steps, the T9 Haven has the hardware to move beyond sealed roads, while its leaf-sprung rear axle remains suited to the demands of a load-carrying ute.

Practicality is central to the T9's design. The dual-cab body provides four doors and seating for five, making it suitable for transporting a crew without giving up the flexibility of a separate cargo tub. The tub includes four tie-down hooks and a protective bedliner, while the single-action tailgate and central locking help make loading and securing cargo more convenient. A payload capacity of 1,045 kg and braked towing capacity of 3,200 kg further underline its utility focus, subject to the relevant operating conditions and legal requirements.

Inside, the Haven adds a more considered feel to the working-ute format. Black leather-accented trim, heated and six-way electrically powered front seats, climate-control air conditioning and rear air vents support comfort across changing conditions. A cooling centre-console storage compartment, rear armrest with cup holders and rear USB ports add useful touches for longer journeys. Privacy glass, roof rails, welcome puddle lamps and a black metal roll bar contribute to the vehicle's equipment and exterior presentation.

Technology is centred on a 10.4-inch touchscreen entertainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity and DAB+ digital radio. A seven-inch colour instrument cluster keeps key information in the driver's view, while wireless phone charging with fan cooling provides a convenient way to keep compatible devices powered. The 360-degree view camera, front and rear parking sensors and auto-dimming rear-view mirror are particularly useful when manoeuvring a vehicle of this size.

Safety equipment includes seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert and rear autonomous emergency braking. Lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, emergency lane keeping, lane change assist, traffic sign recognition, driver monitoring and intelligent high-beam control provide additional driver support. These systems complement electronic stability control, traction control, ABS and electronic brake-force distribution.
