The MG4 EV Urban Essence 43 is a compact electric hatch designed around straightforward everyday usability. The permanent magnet synchronous motor and front-wheel-drive layout are paired with a compact hatchback body measuring 4395mm long, 1842mm wide and 1549mm high. A 2750mm wheelbase helps define the car's practical proportions without moving it beyond the manageable footprint expected of a light hatch.

The cabin combines black and grey fabric upholstery with a technology-focused dashboard. A 12.8-inch HD infotainment touchscreen provides the main display interface, complemented by a 7-inch HD driver display. Satellite navigation, iSMART connectivity and wireless smartphone integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto add useful flexibility for mapping, media and connected functions. MG Pilot incorporates adaptive cruise control, intelligent cruise assist, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, emergency lane-keep assist and lane-change assist. These systems are supported by automatic headlamps, full LED headlights, daytime running lights and LED rear lights.

Exterior details include 17-inch Starburst alloy wheels, roof rails, a rear spoiler and rear privacy glass. The electric parking brake, auto hold and hill-start assist are practical additions for stop-start driving, while the heated leather steering wheel and ambient lighting add a measure of comfort to the interior. Five doors and five seats make the layout versatile for regular passenger use, while the hatchback format retains a relatively compact and approachable shape.
