2026 General XP 1000 SPORT

The 2026 Polaris General XP 1000 SPORT is designed to bridge the gap between recreational trail driving and practical off-road utility. Its two-seat layout, strong chassis and versatile cargo capability make it suited to riders who want a machine that can carry equipment during the week and explore challenging terrain when the work is done.

At the heart of the General XP 1000 SPORT is a 999 cc ProStar 1000 four-stroke DOHC twin-cylinder engine producing 100 HP. Electronic fuel injection supports consistent operation, while the automatic PVT transmission provides a straightforward P/R/N/L/H range for adapting to changing terrain and workloads. The selectable on-demand true AWD, 2WD and VersaTrac Turf Mode drivetrain gives the driver flexibility to direct traction where it is most useful, including improved manoeuvrability on softer ground and lawn areas.

Its off-road hardware is built around long-travel suspension with high-clearance dual A-arms at the front and an independent rear system. Walker Evans Velocity Series shocks are fitted front and rear, with approximately 35.6 cm of suspension travel. Combined with 34.3 cm of ground clearance, 15-inch aluminium wheels and 30-inch Pro Armor Crawler XG tyres, the setup is intended to maintain control and clearance across uneven trails, ruts and loose surfaces.

The General also brings useful carrying and recovery equipment. A rear dumping cargo box is rated to carry up to 272 kg, providing a practical way to transport supplies, tools or recreational gear. The vehicle has a 499 kg payload capacity and a 680 kg towing rating, while a standard receiver hitch expands its usefulness for compatible trailers and attachments. A Polaris HD Plus winch with synthetic rope is included for recovery work and for helping clear obstacles encountered away from formed roads.

Comfort and control have not been overlooked. Bolstered bucket seats, a driver seat slider, height-adjustable seat belts and adjustable tilt steering help accommodate different driving positions. High-output electronic power steering reduces the effort required at the wheel, particularly when negotiating technical terrain. LED headlights with accent lighting and LED taillights improve visibility, while the instrument panel combines analogue dials with a 4-inch LCD rider information centre showing key operating data such as speed, engine speed, fuel level, coolant temperature, gear position and service information.

Standard equipment includes a ProFit sport roof, full doors, a low-profile sport bumper, Lock & Ride cargo compatibility and a DC outlet.
