Power comes from a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol inline six-cylinder engine paired with a 9.0 kW electric motor. With 280 kW and 540 Nm quoted for the petrol engine, the 740i has the mechanical substance expected of a flagship sedan, while the 48-volt electrical system supports smoother responses and regenerative braking. The eight-speed Steptronic Sports Automatic transmission sends drive to the rear wheels. Official combined fuel consumption is listed at 7.9L/100km, giving the car a considered balance between performance and long-distance efficiency.
