The 2025 BMW M135 xDrive is a compact performance hatchback that combines a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with all-wheel drive and a dual-clutch automatic transmission. With 233.0kW and 400Nm available, it has the hardware to deliver brisk, responsive performance while retaining the compact dimensions and everyday practicality expected of a 1 Series.

Its F70-generation body brings a contemporary interpretation of BMW’s small hatchback, finished here in Black Sapphire. The five-door layout makes access straightforward for passengers, while seating for five and a 380-litre minimum load area give the car useful versatility for regular commuting, shopping and weekend travel. Folding the rear seats expands the available load space to 1,200 litres, adding flexibility without moving into a larger vehicle class.

The M135 xDrive’s defining mechanical feature is its combination of a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and four-wheel drive. The seven-speed Sports Automatic Dual Clutch transmission is designed to make quick, smooth gear changes, while the all-wheel-drive system provides additional traction when conditions or road surfaces are less than ideal. A claimed 0-100km/h time of 4.9 seconds underlines the model’s performance focus. Fuel consumption is listed at 7.8L/100km on the combined cycle, with the engine specified for 98 RON premium unleaded petrol.

Inside, the cabin takes a technology-led approach, centred on BMW Live Cockpit Professional and a curved display arrangement. The equipment package includes a head-up display, wireless device charging, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keeping key information and phone functions readily accessible. Selectable drive modes allow the driving character to be adjusted, while dual-zone automatic climate control, heated steering wheel and electrically adjustable seats add convenience to daily use.

The fitted equipment also includes comfort and visibility features intended to make the car easier to use in busy urban environments. Comfort access, a hands-free boot, automatic-dimming mirrors, adaptive LED headlights and a high-beam assistant reduce the effort involved in regular driving. Parking Assistant Plus is included to assist with low-speed manoeuvring, complemented by an integrated dash cam.

Sporting intent is reinforced by the M Sport Package Pro, which adds M Sport brakes with red high-gloss finish, M seat belts, M Sport seats for the driver and front passenger, and extended Shadow Line detailing.
