Finished in Jungle Green with a Cloud interior, this near-new demonstrator has travelled just 16 km and combines a strong equipment list with the straightforward driving character expected from a single-speed electric vehicle.

Its 160 kW permanent magnet electric motor produces 320 Nm of torque, with power delivered through a smooth reduction-gear transmission to the front wheels. That arrangement is well suited to urban driving, where the immediate response of an electric motor makes low-speed progress easy and refined. Regenerative braking and selectable drive modes add flexibility to the driving experience, while the 68.4 kWh lithium-ion battery supports a listed 450 km range under both NEDC and WLTP testing. Fast charging is specified at 20 minutes, and the vehicle is also compatible with mains charging.

The EX5's SUV body provides a useful balance of cabin space and manageable dimensions. Five seats, a flat rear floor and split-folding rear seats make the interior adaptable when passenger or cargo requirements change. The luggage area offers 302 litres with the rear seats in place and up to 1,877 litres when expanded. A power tailgate, roof rails and privacy glass add everyday convenience, while the panoramic glass sunroof helps give the cabin an open feel.

Inside, the Inspire grade focuses on technology and comfort. A large high-definition infotainment display is paired with a digital instrument cluster, satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless smartphone charging, USB ports, Wi-Fi connectivity and a premium 16-speaker sound system help keep occupants connected on longer journeys. Heated and massaging seats, a memory seat function, a heated multifunction steering wheel and dual-zone climate control add a more accommodating feel, while rear air vents help distribute ventilation through the cabin.

Driver assistance is a major part of the EX5 specification. The safety suite includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, emergency lane keeping, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and traffic-sign recognition. A 360-degree surround-view camera, reversing camera and parking sensors assist with manoeuvring, and features such as driver attention monitoring, safe-exit warning, tyre-pressure monitoring and seven airbags provide additional support.
