The Subaru Crosstrek is a compact SUV designed around everyday usability without losing sight of rougher roads and outdoor travel. Its standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, 220mm of ground clearance and available X-Mode give the range a useful level of traction and clearance for uneven or slippery surfaces, while the compact dimensions remain well suited to normal urban driving.

Powertrain choice is a key part of the Crosstrek range. Petrol variants use a 2.0-litre direct-injection horizontally opposed Boxer engine paired with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission, including an eight-speed paddle-shift manual mode. Hybrid versions combine a 2.0-litre Boxer petrol engine with an electric motor integrated into the rear of the transmission, providing an alternative e-Boxer drivetrain with its own seven-speed paddle-shift manual mode. Towing capacity varies by variant, with petrol models rated up to 1,400kg braked and hybrid models up to 1,270kg when correctly equipped.

Inside, the Crosstrek focuses on clear controls and flexible use of space. A five-seat cabin includes a 60:40 split-folding rear seatback, allowing passenger and cargo requirements to be balanced more easily. Dual-zone climate control is available, while higher grades add features such as an eight-way power driver's seat with memory and heated front seats. Seat trim varies across the range from charcoal tricot and premium cloth to leather-accented finishes.

The 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system provides a central interface for vehicle functions and media. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth, digital radio and wireless charging are available across the range, while selected grades add built-in satellite navigation. The driver also has a separate multi-information display positioned in the line of sight, showing information such as speed, EyeSight status, SI-Drive and X-Mode settings.

Safety technology is comprehensive across the model line. Subaru's latest-generation EyeSight Driver Assist system uses stereo colour cameras and a wide-angle monocular camera to help identify hazards and support collision avoidance. The range also includes a Driver Monitoring System and Emergency Driving Stop System. Depending on variant, equipment includes blind-spot detection, reverse automatic braking and a panoramic 360-degree view monitor. The Subaru Global Platform incorporates a ring-shaped passenger safety cell, crushable zones and nine SRS airbags, and the Crosstrek has a five-star ANCAP safety rating based on testing conducted in 2024.
