Infiniti Q50 2016 | new car sales price
Vehicle Overview
The 2016 Infiniti Q50 is a sports sedan whose update concentrated on powertrain and chassis technology rather than a wholesale redesign. Its most significant change was the introduction of a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, replacing the previous naturally aspirated 3.7-litre V6 and offering two distinct levels of performance. In Sport Premium form it produced 224kW and 400Nm, while the range-topping Red Sport delivered 298kW and 475Nm.
Those engines use water-cooled intercooler systems designed to support both performance and efficiency. The Red Sport’s more highly tuned hardware included a turbine-speed sensor and higher boost pressure, giving the flagship version a clear mechanical distinction from the Sport Premium. The broader Q50 range also retained a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel developed through the Infiniti, Nissan and Daimler collaboration, and a V6 petrol-electric hybrid producing 268kW and 546Nm.
Every Q50 was paired with a seven-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, including manual shift functionality and a Sport mode that holds gears and changes shift behaviour at higher engine speeds. Infiniti’s second-generation Direct Adaptive Steering added selectable steering responses, allowing the driver to choose between Personal, Standard, Snow, Eco, Sport and Sport+ settings. This electronic approach was complemented by Dynamic Digital Suspension on the Sport Premium and Red Sport grades, aiming to balance everyday ride comfort with sharper handling.
The performance-focused grades were visually differentiated by 19-inch alloy wheels with run-flat tyres. Sport and Red Sport versions also received a more assertive grille design, while the Red Sport added red S badging, sportier exhaust outlets and a black spoiler. Inside, the Q50 retained its distinctive double-wave dashboard while receiving changes to the centre-console presentation. V6 variants were equipped with Infiniti InTouch, using an 8.0-inch upper display and a 7.0-inch lower colour screen for navigation, information and communication functions.
Comfort and entertainment equipment included a 14-speaker Bose audio system on V6-powered versions and four-cylinder Sport Premium models. The Q50 also carried a five-star ANCAP safety rating. Overall, the 2016 update made the Q50 a technically ambitious alternative in the sports-sedan class, with the Red Sport providing the headline performance while the wider range offered petrol, diesel and hybrid choices.
Other highlights include Engine or motor: 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine available in two states of tune; the 2016 Q50 range also included 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, 2.2-litre turbo-diesel and V6 petrol-electric hybrid powertrains.
