2026 Isuzu MU-X LS-U 4X4 Dual Range

This new 2026 Isuzu MU-X LS-U is a seven-seat large SUV with a purposeful 4X4 drivetrain, diesel power and the added versatility of a dual-range transfer system. Finished in Mercury Silver Metallic with a black interior, it combines the practical proportions expected of a family-sized SUV with the hardware required for more demanding touring and off-road use.

At its centre is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder DOHC turbo-intercooled diesel engine developing 120kW and 400Nm. The torque is delivered across a useful 1600-2400rpm band, which suits low-speed manoeuvring, loaded travel and towing duties. An eight-speed automatic transmission is specified, providing a broad spread of ratios for relaxed cruising while retaining the response needed when conditions become more demanding.

The LS-U's 4X4 system uses Isuzu's Terrain Command selector, giving the driver access to 2H, 4H and 4L modes. Rough Terrain Mode and a rear differential lock add further control when traction is limited, while hill descent control, hill start assist and trailer sway control support confidence on uneven surfaces or when towing. The vehicle is rated to tow up to 3500kg braked and 750kg unbraked, subject to applicable requirements.

With seven seats across three rows, the MU-X is configured for flexible passenger carrying. Dual-zone climate control helps maintain a comfortable cabin environment, while the black trim provides a straightforward, durable-looking interior treatment. A powered tailgate, smart keyless entry, push-button start and power-folding mirrors add everyday convenience, particularly when the vehicle is being used for regular family or touring duties.

Technology is centred on a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, supported by built-in satellite navigation and an eight-speaker audio system. A 7-inch digital multi-information display presents key driving information, while leather steering-wheel controls provide access to cruise, audio and voice functions without requiring the driver to reach for the screen.

The LS-U is equipped with a comprehensive suite of active safety systems. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, emergency lane keeping and blind-spot monitoring are designed to reduce driver workload on longer journeys. Rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, traffic sign recognition and driver attention assist add useful support in traffic and confined spaces. Eight airbags are also fitted, including front, curtain, side, driver's knee and far-side airbags.

Exterior equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels with highway-terrain tyres, bi-LED headlights with automatic levelling, LED daytime running lights, LED rear combination lamps, front fog lamps, roof rails and rear privacy glass. Automatic headlights, automatic high beam and automatic windscreen wipers further reduce the number of routine adjustments required behind the wheel.
