New Look MU-X

The New Look Isuzu MU-X is a seven-seat SUV designed to combine long-distance comfort with the practical capability expected of a vehicle built for towing and rougher travel. Its redesigned exterior gives the model a more assertive presence, while the available range of eight exterior colours allows buyers to choose a finish that suits their preferences.

Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre 4JJ3 turbo-diesel engine, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine uses high-pressure injection and a variable-geometry turbocharger, providing the foundation for the MU-X's towing and touring role. A braked towing capacity of up to 3,500kg makes it relevant to owners who need to move a boat, caravan or trailer, while Trailer Sway Control is designed to assist when towing conditions become unsettled.

The MU-X is also equipped for changing surfaces. Its terrain command system allows the driver to move between 2WD and 4WD High while travelling at speeds of up to 100km/h. A rear differential lock, hill descent control and an 800mm wading depth add useful capability when conditions become slippery, steep or wet. Highway-terrain tyres and alloy wheels support its on-road touring focus, while alloy side steps make access easier.

Inside, the cabin is arranged across three rows, with space for seven occupants and a focus on everyday usability. Electric front-seat adjustment, heated front seats, split-fold rear seating, multiple USB Type-C ports and storage areas throughout the cabin help make the interior practical for longer journeys. Double-sealed doors and extensive soundproofing are intended to create a quieter environment, while roof rails provide another option for carrying equipment.

Technology is a strong part of the MU-X package. A 9.0-inch touchscreen incorporates satellite navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a 360-degree surround-view camera assists with manoeuvring. Adaptive cruise control is supported by a broad suite of driver-assistance systems, including autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, traffic-sign recognition and driver-attention assistance. Eight airbags, parking sensors, a reversing camera and a five-star ANCAP safety rating complete the model's safety focus.
