2026 GWM Haval H7 VANTA HYBRID (2WD).

The 2026 GWM Haval H7 brings a more adventurous character to the midsize SUV class. Positioned above the H6 in GWM’s range, it combines a distinctive, rugged-looking exterior with the practicality expected of a family-sized wagon. Its tall, boxy proportions give the H7 a confident road presence while also helping create useful space for passengers and luggage.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The hybrid system produces a combined 179kW and 530Nm, giving this front-wheel-drive SUV a substantial performance reserve while retaining a claimed fuel use of 5.7L per 100km. A dedicated hybrid transmission manages the petrol-electric powertrain, and selectable Normal, Eco, Sport and Snow modes allow the driving response to be adapted to different conditions.

The H7 is designed primarily as a comfortable and versatile road vehicle, although its 210mm of ground clearance and hill descent control add some useful flexibility when travelling beyond sealed surfaces. Its 1,500kg braked towing capacity also broadens its practical appeal for owners who need to carry recreational equipment or tow a suitably sized trailer.

Inside, the cabin has a modern, technology-focused layout with a large 14.6-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity and digital radio. A 12.3-inch instrument display and head-up display help keep key information within the driver’s view, while the 360-degree camera and front and rear parking distance control provide additional assistance when manoeuvring the sizeable SUV.

Comfort equipment is generous in the Vanta Hybrid specification. Heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, rear air vents and a panoramic sunroof contribute to a more adaptable cabin across changing weather conditions. The driver’s eight-way electric seat includes memory functionality and lumbar adjustment, while the front passenger receives four-way electric adjustment. Black leather-accented upholstery, ambient lighting and a powered roof sunshade add to the cabin’s upmarket presentation.

Passenger space is one of the H7’s key strengths. The second row offers generous legroom, and the upright body helps provide useful headroom throughout the cabin. With the rear seats in place, the boot offers 483 litres of capacity; folding the split rear bench expands this to 1,362 litres for larger loads. Safety and driver assistance equipment includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot detection, lane-centering assistance, lane-keeping assistance, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, traffic-sign recognition and cyclist and pedestrian recognition. Automatic parking assistance, intelligent cornering control and traffic-jam assist add further support in busy urban driving.
