Toyota bZ4X

The Toyota bZ4X is an all-electric SUV designed to combine everyday practicality with the quieter, simpler character of battery-powered motoring. Its mid-sized footprint, 452-litre cargo capacity and power back door give it useful versatility for daily transport, while roof rails add flexibility for carrying larger items.

The bZ4X is presented with a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery and an electric motor producing up to 165kW. Toyota quotes an estimated WLTP range of up to 591km, although actual range will vary with conditions, driving style, temperature, load and the use of climate control. For longer journeys, the vehicle supports DC fast charging at up to 150kW, with a stated 10-to-80 per cent charging time of approximately 28 minutes under suitable conditions. AC charging is also supported, with the quoted figures referring to 22kW three-phase charging.

Inside, the cabin places a strong emphasis on digital connectivity and comfort. A 14-inch colour touchscreen incorporates Bluetooth, DAB radio and navigation, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide straightforward access to compatible smartphone functions. Two 15W Qi-compatible wireless charging points, four USB ports and Toyota Connected Services further support convenient day-to-day use.

Comfort equipment includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control with Nanoe X air-purifying technology and an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat. The power-operated back door with kick sensor is particularly useful when loading items with both hands occupied, and vehicle-to-load capability can supply up to 1500W through a 220V AC outlet for compatible equipment.

Safety technology is extensive, with Toyota Safety Sense 3 incorporating Pre-Collision Safety, Lane Departure Alert and Road Sign Assist. Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Safe Exit Assist, a Driver Monitor Camera, a Panoramic View Monitor and eight SRS airbags are also listed. Together, these systems are intended to provide additional assistance in busy traffic, during parking manoeuvres and when occupants are entering or leaving the vehicle.
