Jaecoo confirms J8 7-seat SHS pricing and specification

The Jaecoo J8 SHS Summit is a large seven-seat SUV built around a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a generously equipped cabin. Its combination of three-row practicality, electric driving capability and all-wheel drive gives it a broad range of uses, from carrying passengers to handling longer-distance travel with fewer interruptions.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with two front electric motors and a single rear motor. Combined system outputs are listed at 315kW and 580Nm, with the rear electric motor providing the mechanism for all-wheel drive while the front wheels receive power through Jaecoo's Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. The battery has a 34kWh capacity and supports DC fast charging at up to 70kW.

The hybrid system is designed to support both electric-focused local driving and extended touring. The stated electric driving distance is up to 169km on the NEDC cycle without charging, while total driving range is quoted at more than 1,000km. Those figures give the J8 SHS flexibility for short trips where electric operation is useful, while retaining petrol-electric range for longer journeys.

Its seven-seat layout adds genuine passenger-carrying versatility. With the third row in use, luggage capacity is rated at 200 litres, increasing to 738 litres when the third-row seats are folded flat. A maximum towing capacity of 750kg applies to an unbraked trailer, while the braked trailer limit is 1,600kg.

The Summit specification places a strong emphasis on comfort and cabin technology. Quilted leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats with massage functionality, a panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade and second-row window shades create a more accommodating interior for longer journeys. Dual 12.3-inch LCD displays, a head-up display, wireless and wired smartphone integration, a 50W wireless charger and a 14-speaker Sony sound system provide a comprehensive digital environment.

Voice control is integrated through the Hello Jaecoo system, allowing functions such as climate control, the sunroof, windows and radio to be adjusted using spoken commands. A built-in fragrance system and selectable ambient lighting add further refinement, while acoustic glass for the windscreen is intended to support a quieter cabin.

Exterior equipment includes projector-style LED headlights with daytime running lights, power-retracting door handles, 20-inch alloy wheels, puddle lights and a powered tailgate. The available exterior colours are Arctic White, Carbon Black, Ocean Blue and Iridium Silver.

Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, a 360-degree around-view monitor and a suite of driver-assistance systems. Listed functions include autonomous emergency braking, emergency lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning. Together with the elevated driving position and camera visibility provided by the around-view monitor, these systems are intended to assist with everyday manoeuvring and highway travel.
