Jaecoo confirms J8 7-seat SHS pricing and specification

The Jaecoo J8 Summit SHS is a large seven-seat SUV built around the brand’s Super Hybrid System, combining a turbocharged petrol engine with three electric motors and all-wheel drive. It is positioned at the top of the J8 range and brings a substantial mix of passenger space, hybrid capability and comfort-focused equipment.

Its seven-seat layout is designed to accommodate larger groups without abandoning everyday practicality. With the third row in use, luggage capacity is rated at 200 litres, expanding to 738 litres when those seats are folded flat. That flexible arrangement gives the J8 a useful balance between people-moving ability and cargo space, depending on the demands of the journey.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 105kW and 215Nm, supported by two front electric motors and a rear motor. Combined system outputs are quoted at 315kW and 580Nm. The electric rear axle provides all-wheel drive, while the front wheels are driven through a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission known as 3DHT. The combination is intended to provide strong system performance while retaining the ability to operate as a plug-in hybrid for shorter electric-focused trips.

The 34kWh battery supports up to 169km of NEDC-rated driving without charging, while the overall driving range is stated as more than 1,000km. DC fast charging is supported at up to 70kW. For owners who need occasional towing ability, the J8 SHS is rated to tow up to 750kg with an unbraked trailer and 1,600kg with a braked trailer.

Comfort and presentation are central to the Summit specification. Quilted leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats with massage functionality, and a panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade give the cabin a more luxurious character. Second-row window shades add a practical touch for rear passengers, while the power tailgate and retracting door handles contribute to convenient daily use.

Technology is presented through dual 12.3-inch LCD displays and a head-up display, keeping key information visible to the driver. Wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide familiar smartphone connectivity, while a 50W wireless charger reduces cable clutter. The cabin also includes a 14-speaker Sony sound system, with two speakers integrated into the driver’s headrest, plus a built-in fragrance system and colour-selectable ambient lighting.

The “Hello Jaecoo” voice command system allows selected functions such as climate control, the sunroof, windows and audio to be adjusted verbally. This adds an alternative to using the touchscreen or physical controls while driving.

Exterior equipment includes projector-style LED headlights with daytime running lights, 20-inch alloy wheels, puddle lights and a power tailgate. Buyers can choose from Arctic White, Carbon Black, Ocean Blue and Iridium Silver exterior finishes.

Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, a 360-degree around-view monitor and a broad suite of driver assistance systems. The listed technologies include autonomous emergency braking, emergency lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning. Together with the surround-view camera, these systems are intended to assist with both collision avoidance and low-speed manoeuvring.
