Jaecoo confirms J8 7-seat SHS pricing and specification

The Jaecoo J8 SHS is a large seven-seat SUV built around a plug-in hybrid-style powertrain known as the Super Hybrid System. It combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with three electric motors, using electric drive at the rear axle and a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission to send power to the front wheels. The result is an all-wheel-drive layout designed to combine strong system output with the flexibility of petrol and electric energy.

At the centre of the range is the Summit SHS variant. Its powertrain produces a combined 315kW and 580Nm, while the 34kWh battery can be charged at up to 70kW using a DC fast charger. The published electric driving distance is up to 169km on the NEDC test cycle without charging, while the stated total driving range exceeds 1,000km. This combination gives the J8 SHS the ability to handle longer journeys without relying solely on public charging infrastructure.

The seven-seat cabin is matched with useful flexibility for carrying people and luggage. With the third row in use, luggage capacity is rated at 200 litres under the VDA measurement standard. Folding the third-row seats flat increases that capacity to 738 litres, making the layout adaptable when occasional extra seating is more important than maximum cargo space. The vehicle is also rated to tow up to 750kg with an unbraked trailer and 1,600kg with a braked trailer.

Inside, the J8 SHS places a strong emphasis on comfort and technology. Quilted leather seats are complemented by heated, ventilated and massage-equipped front seats, while a panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade helps give the cabin a more open feel. The dashboard uses dual 12.3-inch LCD displays and a head-up display, with wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available for smartphone integration.

Additional cabin technology includes a 14-speaker Sony sound system, including speakers integrated into the driver’s headrest, a 50W wireless charging pad and a built-in fragrance system. The Hello Jaecoo voice-command system can be used for functions such as climate control, the sunroof, windows and audio settings. Second-row window shades and selectable ambient lighting add further convenience for occupants.

Exterior equipment includes projector-style LED headlights with daytime running lights, power-retracting door handles, a powered tailgate and 20-inch alloy wheels. The available exterior palette comprises Arctic White, Carbon Black, Ocean Blue and Iridium Silver.

Safety equipment includes 10 airbags and a 360-degree around-view monitor. The stated driver-assistance suite includes autonomous emergency braking, emergency lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning. Overall, the J8 SHS combines a spacious seven-seat format with a sophisticated multi-motor hybrid system and a comprehensive equipment package.
