PEUGEOT 308 Hatch Hybrid

The PEUGEOT 308 GT Hybrid brings a distinctive European character to the compact hatchback class, combining a sharply styled body with a hybrid powertrain designed to improve efficiency without abandoning the engaging simplicity of a conventional passenger car. Its low, athletic stance, muscular rear treatment and sculpted contours give the 308 a stronger road presence than its compact dimensions might suggest.

At the centre of the range is a 1.2-litre PureTech turbo hybrid engine producing 107kW at 5,500rpm and 230Nm of torque. The electrified system is supported by a battery that recharges during deceleration, allowing electric assistance to contribute extra torque at low engine speeds. Peugeot quotes combined consumption of 4.2L/100km and combined carbon dioxide emissions of 95g/km under the applicable test cycle, although real-world results will vary with driving style, traffic, weather, vehicle load and other conditions.

The six-speed electrified dual-clutch automatic transmission is intended to make the hybrid system easy to use in everyday driving. Rather than requiring special interaction from the driver, the powertrain integrates its combustion and electric assistance into a familiar automatic driving experience. The result is a compact hatch suited to urban travel and longer journeys alike, with the potential efficiency advantages of electrification built into a conventional five-door format.

Inside, the GT grade focuses on a technology-rich driving environment. A configurable 10-inch digital driving cockpit places key information in the driver’s view, while a 10-inch high-definition capacitive central touchscreen provides the main interface for vehicle functions and connectivity. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support compatible devices without requiring a cable for regular smartphone integration.

The cabin’s design is matched by a high level of visual detail. Fraxx’ tri-material Alcantara upholstery, an Isabella leather-effect finish and Adamite green contrast stitching give the interior a more individual appearance, while the available sunroof adds light and openness to the passenger compartment. Full LED Matrix headlights and the rear 3D full LED PEUGEOT signature claw-effect lights extend the model’s design language into its lighting hardware.

Compact exterior dimensions remain a central part of the 308’s appeal. The hatchback measures 4,365mm long, 1,859mm wide excluding the wing mirrors and 1,465mm high. Peugeot lists front-row elbow room of 1,443mm, with the second row offering 1,411mm of elbow room and 452mm of knee space. These figures underline the 308’s balance between an easily manageable footprint and a cabin shaped for everyday passenger use.
