Its 160 kW permanent magnet electric motor drives the front wheels through a single-speed reduction gear system. The result is smooth, quiet propulsion with 320 Nm of torque and a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds. A 68.4 kWh lithium-ion battery provides a quoted 450 km electric driving range under both NEDC and WLTP testing, while mains and regenerative charging are supported. Fast charging is listed at 20 minutes, helping make longer trips more manageable when a suitable charger is available.

The EX5's interior is designed around straightforward access to information and everyday comfort.
