Jaecoo confirms J8 7-seat SHS pricing and specification

The Jaecoo J8 Summit SHS is a large seven-seat SUV built around the brand’s Super Hybrid System, combining a turbocharged petrol engine with three electric motors. It is positioned at the top of the J8 range and pairs the practicality of three rows with a technology-led cabin and all-wheel-drive capability.

Its exterior design takes a broad, confident approach, centred on a rounded interpretation of Jaecoo’s waterfall grille. Projector-style LED headlights, sweeping daytime running lights, power-retracting door handles and a full-width rear light treatment give the J8 a distinctive appearance, while 20-inch alloy wheels add visual presence. Buyers can choose from Arctic White, Carbon Black, Ocean Blue and Iridium Silver.

The seven-seat layout is intended to make the J8 more useful than a conventional five-seat SUV. With the third row in use, luggage capacity is rated at 200 litres, increasing to 738 litres when the third-row seats are folded flat. That split between passenger accommodation and cargo flexibility gives the cabin a practical foundation for carrying people and equipment.

Inside, the Summit SHS takes a comfort-focused approach. Quilted leather seats are complemented by heated, ventilated and massage-equipped front seats, while second-row window shades help manage light and privacy for rear passengers. A panoramic sunroof with slide, tilt and powered sunshade functions contributes to the sense of space, and the built-in fragrance system and selectable ambient lighting add further cabin customisation.

Technology is concentrated around dual 12.3-inch LCD displays and a head-up display, allowing key information to remain visible without requiring constant attention to the central screen. Wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with a 50W wireless phone charger. The 14-speaker Sony sound system includes two speakers integrated into the driver’s seat headrest. Voice commands using the “Hello Jaecoo” system can control functions such as climate settings, the sunroof, windows and audio.

The hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 105kW and 215Nm with electric motors rated at 75kW/170Nm, 90kW/220Nm and 175kW/310Nm. Total system output is listed at 315kW and 580Nm. The front wheels are driven through a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, while the rear axle is powered electrically to provide all-wheel drive.

A 34kWh battery supports an advertised electric driving distance of up to 169km under the NEDC test cycle without charging. The vehicle’s stated total driving range exceeds 1,000km, giving the hybrid system a broad operating range for longer trips. DC fast charging is supported at up to 70kW. Towing capacity is rated at 750kg for an unbraked trailer and 1,600kg for a braked trailer.

Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, a 360-degree around-view monitor and a suite of driver-assistance systems. Listed functions include autonomous emergency braking, emergency lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning. Together with the elevated driving position and all-wheel-drive layout, these systems are intended to provide additional support in everyday driving, although their operation remains dependent on road and traffic conditions.

The J8 Summit SHS presents a combination of three-row practicality, strong hybrid-system outputs, extended electric capability and a richly equipped interior.
