Jaecoo confirms J8 7-seat SHS pricing and specification

The Jaecoo J8 SHS Summit is a large seven-seat SUV that combines a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a notably well-equipped cabin. It is positioned as the flagship version of the J8 range, bringing together generous passenger space, long-distance flexibility and a high level of standard technology.

Its seven-seat layout is designed to accommodate a larger group without sacrificing everyday usability. With the third row in place, luggage capacity is rated at 200 litres, expanding to 738 litres when those seats are folded flat. That gives the J8 a useful balance between passenger-carrying ability and cargo space, depending on how the cabin is configured.

The Super Hybrid System pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with three electric motors: two mounted at the front and one driving the rear axle. The combined system develops 315kW and 580Nm, while the electric rear motor provides the basis for all-wheel drive. Power is delivered to the front wheels through a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, allowing the petrol and electric systems to work together across a broad range of driving conditions.

A 34kWh battery supports up to 169km of electric driving according to the NEDC test cycle, while the vehicle's stated total driving range exceeds 1,000km. DC fast charging is supported at up to 70kW. The J8 SHS is also rated to tow up to 750kg with an unbraked trailer or 1,600kg with a braked trailer.

The Summit specification places a strong emphasis on comfort. Quilted leather seats are joined by heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, while a panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade helps create a more open-feeling interior. Second-row window shades, acoustic glass and a built-in fragrance system add further refinement for occupants on longer trips.

Technology is centred around dual 12.3-inch displays, a head-up display and wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The voice-operated Hello Jaecoo system can control functions such as climate settings, the sunroof, windows and audio without requiring the driver to use the touchscreen. A 14-speaker Sony sound system, including speakers integrated into the driver's seat headrest, provides a distinctive audio arrangement.

Exterior equipment includes projector-style LED headlights with daytime running lights, power-retracting door handles, 20-inch alloy wheels, puddle lights and a powered tailgate. Buyers can choose from Arctic White, Carbon Black, Ocean Blue and Iridium Silver exterior finishes.

Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, a 360-degree around-view monitor and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems. Autonomous emergency braking, emergency lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning are included among the listed active safety technologies.
