Vehicle Overview

Omoda Jaecoo’s July 2026 sales results highlight the growing role of electrified vehicles in the Australian new-car market. The brand recorded 2,135 registrations during the month, with 1,571 vehicles classified as new energy vehicles, representing 74 per cent of its total deliveries.

The strongest individual contributor was the Jaecoo J5 EV, which recorded 1,262 sales in July. Its performance adds to more than 7,700 J5 deliveries since the model was introduced, including 7,192 electric versions. The J5 EV was also identified as Australia’s best-selling small electric SUV in May and ranked seventh overall among the country’s most popular vehicles for that month.

These figures place the J5 EV at the centre of the brand’s electric-vehicle expansion. A compact electric SUV combines the familiar practicality of a raised driving position with the quieter, locally emissions-free operation associated with battery-electric power. For buyers considering a transition away from an internal-combustion vehicle, its sales momentum indicates that the format is attracting considerable interest in Australia.

Across its Super Hybrid and electric ranges, the brand delivered more than 9,000 vehicles in Australia during 2026, accounting for 82.5 per cent of its 10,943 total sales. That balance demonstrates how significantly electrified models now shape the company’s local product mix, rather than serving as a small complement to conventional vehicles.

The article also places the Australian results within a broader international context. Global new energy vehicle sales reached 56,188 in June 2026, a 310 per cent year-on-year increase. The J7 Super Hybrid has recorded particularly strong results in the United Kingdom, while the model has also ranked among the leading plug-in hybrid vehicles in Brazil, Italy and Poland.

Further expansion of the Australian range is planned through the arrival of the next generation of Super Hybrid products. The J5 SHS-H and seven-seat J8 SHS-P extend the electrified line-up into different vehicle sizes and use cases, giving buyers more choice between a compact SUV and a larger vehicle with additional seating capacity. Both models were reported as entering showrooms at the time of publication.
